ZSearcher information

ZSearcher is a Z39.50 client that provides Internet search and retrieval access to bibliographic databases available through hundreds of current Z39.50 servers around the world.

Running under any 32-bit Windows operating system (Windows 95, 98, NT or XP), it takes advantage of multi-threading and multi-document design to permit simultaneous searches of multiple servers, resulting in very high speed retrieval and record transfer.

Use ZSearcher with an Internet connection to:

  • select the databases you wish to search from a customizable list
  • retrieve records in USMARC (MARC21), UKMARC or UNIMARC formats
  • view results grouped by source, & sorted by title, author, publication date or record type

ZSearcher offers numerous options for configuring the display, saving, printing, and exporting Search results. You can export MARC records to disk, or upload them to a server via the built-in FTP client. You can also export records as XML or ASCII text documents, if you prefer. The latest version now allows you to open, browse & re-sort files of MARC records previously saved to disk.

ZSearcher has extensive Online context-sensitive Help, an Introductory Tutorial to help you get started, and a printed manual you can download if you choose.

Go to the ZSearcher Downloads page and follow the steps for downloading the demo version.
