MARCwriter is a 32-bit Windows application (95/98, NT, XP) that makes possible a greater degree of automation in the
cataloguing process. It is compatible with all MARC-format bibliographic records
downloaded from any source, including local databases, on-line utilities, vendors, or
Z39.50 servers.

MARCwriter makes it easy to:
- edit downloaded records
- create new records using customizable templates
- open multiple records simultaneously to cut and paste data
- check for valid MARC coding automatically
- store finished records or send them via built-in FTP to a local database.
MARCwriter contains instant context-sensitive help from the MARC 21 coding manual as well as
automated error-checking and customizable quality control, so cleaning up source records is
extremely fast. It is readily configurable, so individual cataloguers can save any number of their
own templates and derive instant authority records from within a bibliographic record.
